Dana: Help with setting up email on my Iphone

Hi. Followed the steps in the help in the sero help.
can't get it to work. Can me email me the steps how to do that at
dana@panix.com
I have the Imap password set up, so you can skip that step.
You can post it here also, and I can read it in the sero app. Thanks.

As requested, without the IMAP password steps:

Read these directions carefully, and pay particular attention to item number 8, as it has an important note specifically for iphone and ipad users.

Serotek technical support may be unable to give in-depth assistance with setting up your particular email program or mobile device.
We will, however, provide the settings you’ll need to enter in your phone's email program in order to send and receive email from your sero.email or samobile.net address.

Enabling third-party access to your Sero email

Email settings you'll need

Here are the settings you will need. Please note that the location of these settings will vary by email program, and Serotek technical support may not be able to help you find them.

1. Your name
This is the name you want people to see when they get email from you.

2. Incoming server type
Choose from POP3 or IMAP. You can use either one, but IMAP is recommended if you plan to check your email from multiple places, such as the Sero built-in email program, Windows Live Mail, and your mobile device. IMAP does a better job of keeping mail straight when it is checked from multiple computers and devices.

3. Incoming mail server
Whether you have a sero.email address or are still using an older samobile.net address, your server host name is: mail.sero.email

4. Incoming mail server port
This will depend on whether you have chosen POP3 or IMAP.

For POP3, use port 995.
For IMAP, use port 993.

Please note that in many third-party email programs, the options for setting incoming and outgoing mail ports are not found on the main configuration screen, but rather may be under a section titled "advanced" or something similar.
If you are unsure where to find mail port settings for your email program, please consult the documentation for that program.

5. Outgoing mail server
Whether you have a sero.email address or are still using an older samobile.net address, your server host name is: mail.sero.email
Note: both the incoming and outgoing servers use SSL encryption to ensure that your data is sent securely.

6. Username
Your username is your complete Sero email address, such as fred@sero.email, fred@mysero.net, or fred@samobile.net

7. Password
This is the password you set earlier. If using Outlook, do not check the box for Secure Password Authentication.

The SMTP server does require authentication to be used. You will use the same username and password for the SMTP server as you used for the incoming IMAP or POP3 servers above.

8. SMTP port
Many Internet service providers block the default SMTP port; port 25, from being used. This is a defense against abuse by spammers. So we don't allow the use of port 25 to send email from your Sero account.

Instead, to send email through Sero's SMTP server, you will need to use port 465 for SSL-encrypted SMTP.
This is the case for most devices, but in the case of iOS devices such as the iPhone or iPad we recommend using port 587 instead. Port 465 will work on these devices, but the connection may take a bit longer to be established.

9. Auto-configuration in email programs
Some email programs, such as Outlook, offer the ability to enter your email address, and using this information the program attempts to find the appropriate information to configure your settings for you.
In almost all cases, the program is unable to detect the correct settings. Don't be alarmed when this happens. It simply means that you need to manually configure the settings for your account using the information above.

Apple Mail (iOS or macOS) still don’t detect any settings automatically for Sero, so although it’s stupidly hard for no good reason, just go to Settings, Apps, Mail, Mail Accounts, Add Account, enter your email, then Add Other Account, Mail Account, and then just walk through the screens to fill in the details provided.
