My Blog

Share your thoughts with the community by creating a SAMNet Blog. You can use your Blog to keep a digital diary of events in your life or you can use your blog as a soapbox for your insights on issues about the world around you. You are only limited by your imagination when it comes to blogging.

To create your new blog, from the SAMNet Home Screen, choose "My Blog" from the list of options. Once chosen, you will find two options on the "My Blog" screen. The first option will be titled "Post an Entry". The second will say "Browse Other Blogs".

Let's choose "Post an Entry". The next screen will contain three choices. The first will ask "Post a Text Entry", the second will say "Post a Voice Entry" and the third is "Cancel". Choosing the "Cancel" option will take you back to the first screen in the "My Blog" area.

Post a Text Entry

Selecting the "Post a Text Entry" will bring you to a new screen that will let you type your thoughts down for the rest of the world to read. The first option you will find on this screen is an edit field for entering in the title of your entry. Generally, the title is a short sentence that informs your readers about the subject you wish to talk about in this entry. The next edit field is labeled "Body". This is where you can type your thoughts, musings and ideas down for others to read. Once you have written the body of your entry, you will find two buttons at the bottom of this window. The first button will let you post your entry to your Blog. The second will cancel and exit this post without saving your work. Choosing "Cancel" will also place you back on the first screen in the "My Blog" area.

Post a Voice Entry

Speaking your mind can be easier, for some, than typing out everything you would like to say. Choosing the "Post a Voice Entry" allows you to record your voice as a Blog post for others to hear. Once you have chosen this option, you will find a screen with an edit field for entering the title of your voice blog post. You will then find five buttons below the title field. They are labeled Record, Stop, Play, Post and Cancel. Make sure your microphone is ready to go and press the Record button to begin your Voice Entry. Once you have finished talking, you can then select the Stop button to end the recording. Choose the Play button to listen to the entry you have just recorded. If you like what you heard, then press the "Post" button to add this voice recording to your blog. And if you didn't like the entry, press "Cancel" in order to go back to the first screen in the "My Blog" area without saving your work.

Browsing Blogs in SAMNet

After you have created a Blog entry, you will find on the "My Blog" screen any entries you have posted to your Blog. Under each entry you will see two buttons. The first will offer you the ability to "Post a Comment" and the second will allow you to delete your Blog entry. Selecting "Delete" will bring up a box asking you if you are sure that you would like to delete that post permanently. Choose "OK" to delete the entry and "Cancel" if you do not wish to remove the entry from your Blog.

Post a Comment

You can find this option below your own Blog post or below the entries of others. If you choose to leave a comment, you will find three options on the next screen. These are the same options you have for creating a Blog create a Text comment, a Voice comment, or choose the "Cancel" button. Both the text and voice comments act like those seen with creating a Blog post. Simply follow the previous steps outlined above for capturing your thoughts and select "Post" to have them saved on that person's Blog. Remember that comments can be viewed by the SAMNet Community too. So only post information that you would not mind letting others read or hear.

Browse Others Blogs

At the bottom of the "My Blog" screen you will find an option to read the Blogs of many in the SAMNet Community. Selecting this link will take you to a list of fellow Bloggers. Scroll through the list and choose from the various names presented. Be sure to give others feedback on their Blogs, and they can also leave you feedback too.
