no post since march? wowoww. No good!

Hey all!

So it’s been a few months. Please don’t sue me! How’s everyone doing? My life is great. I just graduated from the perkins school for the blind about 2 weeks ago. 11 years done with. Time for a new chapter in my life. Jess and I are doing great! We’ve been dating exactly 3 months today! I couldn’t ask for a better person in my life. It’s so amaizing and we both treat each other the way we should be treated. I’ve been to her house a few times, and she’s been here a few as well. This summer will consist of doing loads of mobility and other things to prep for the return to my public school. I’m so excited! I’m so ready for the big change! Gonna spend lots of time with Jess and just relax this summer, and be a kid for the last time! :d That’s about it from me! You’ll get another update, hopefully sooner than 3 months from now. Lol!

Have a great rest of your sunday!

Cory

Wow. Things are awesome

Hi guys,

I’m just writing to say that I’m the happiest I’ve been in like 5 months. I met someone new the other day at Perkins. Yeah, your saying, Perkins? That’s right. She came to the school for an evaluation that every blindy has to have every 3 years. So, yeah. I was working in the School snack bar, and this girl shows up. She says Hi. I said hi back, and didn’t think anything of it. Then later in the day, I came out of a class, and this same girl was formally introduced to me by a teacher who was doing part of the eval. We began talking. She’s quite quiet, and so I go,, how long are you here for? Do you wanna hang out? She just giggles, and I go no, ceriously. Wanna? She goes sure. Why not. So that night, we chilled. It was awesome. Just talking and getting to know each other. The next day, like the awesome person she is, she brought me coffee. It was sooo nice. And now, We’re talking all the time. It almost feels strange when we’re not. Lol. But I find it amaizing that even though we don’t know each other’s personal lifes well yet, we can talk for hours. So yeah. Don’t wanna use names yet, but there was a click and now here we are. The thing that made me feel good was when she told me, “If and when we date, I wouldn’t call it a relationship if we could not see each other at least once a month. To me, that’s devotion, and it’s awesome. Other than that, school is well. I just did an interview with someone from comcast sports net about my fencing turny tomorrow. I’ll put it below this, for those who are wondering how a blindy fences. Also, pics will be going up of her and I. hmmph, Guess I’m gonna have to use her first name in the captions of the pics for the blinks. Please leave your comment about the fencing and the pictures! Blog on fencing is below. Thanks for reading.

When Not Seeing is Believing

Shannon DiGuisseppe
This week has been hard on my heart. While playing hockey I semi-impaled myself on the butt end of a stick. There’s a welt on my chest directly over my heart. It still hurts when I breathe deeply. But don’t worry about me. I have bigger concerns.

Earlier this week I learned the four-year-old daughter and niece of close family friends had a brain tumor that required surgery. The good news is the mass removed from Shannon DiGuisseppe’s brain was benign. The bad news is her optic nerve was badly damaged and her eyesight is gone. When Shannon’s Aunt Mary Beth Carroll wrote in an email, ”Shannon keeps saying turn the lights back on,” it broke my heart.

There’s just something about the written word looking back at you.

Shannon is the daughter of Trisha and Steve DiGuisseppe and one of 19 grandchildren in the extended DiGuisseppe/Reilly Family. Her family is praying for a miracle. There’s strength in numbers and I’m joining them.

19-year-old Cory Kadlik, Perkins School of the Blind
Pardon the oxymoron, but with what’s again becoming something of a predictable coincidence in my universe, my assignment for the day involved interviewing a young man with a deep connection to an issue weighing heavily on my heart and mind. 19-year-old Cory Kadlik of Medway, Massachusetts is a student at Perkins School of the Blind in Watertown. Cory is getting ready for a fencing competition. He’s wrestled and played other sports too.

Touch is probably the most important way he finds his way around in fencing and everything else he does. He also “sees” with his ears and feels the vibrations of movement around him. It’s no big deal to him, but it is to me.

Cory doesn’t know this, but spending time with him today made me feel a lot better about the situation involving Shannon. I know Shannon’s parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and the rest of us want the full restoration of her vision, despite the odds against it. If it doesn’t happen though, my time with Cory made me see a much brighter future for Shannon and her family than the one I envisioned when I got that email yesterday.

I believe Shannon will make believers of us all; either through a miracle, or by demonstrating the resiliencey of the human spirit, just like Cory does gracefully each day. I, for one, can’t wait to see it happen. It’ll give our collective hearts a lift; and it just might lead us to do things in our own lives that inspire people around us in ways we never imagined.

So, sue me. It's been a wile. Lots to talk about

Hey guys. What have you been up to? I’ve been real busy as always. It’s thanks givin weekend and I’m in utica NY with my aunt, my uncles and cousins. It’s been real fun. I ate lots and lots of turkey I also got to meet and online friend from this area too. She’s tsoooo much fun. You can see a pic on the homepage of the site. We had a great time. Just getting to know each other. Ya know? Talking, watching movies and so forth.

Schools been great. I’m doing kinda shitty in math, but what ev. I’m not gonna be a math major anyways. It’s just depressing because I’m not use to doing this bad in school. Even though I’m trying my best. It’s real sucky.

I’m kinda tired. I shouldn’t be, because all Ash and I did all day was chill and watch movies. I saw Rain Man for the first time. I give it a thumbs up! I was impressed. Didn’t know it was that old. But yeah, it was good.

Other than this random shit posted above, nothing much has happened. The student help desk at perkins is going well. Kids are calling in and such, and it’s getting logged. Gives me lots of practice, and out of trouble too. heheheee. That’s about it from here. Gonna hit the hay soon. Will post more when there actually is more to post about. Lol. See ya laters, and comment about the new pic on the homepage please!

All I have to say is wow! If you look at people differently, through a different light, you can see they're truly awesome people! Read on for more....

So, This is a long story, and I should be doing homework, but this is worth it. Believe me.

There is a Kid here at Perkins, who’s name I will not mention because he asked me not to. Anyhow, He began here at the school at the beginning of last year. He ccame into this place as a tough guy. If you know me at all, I hate people who act tough. They get on my nerves, and I generally can’t stand them. So when I saw the kid, (whom we’ll call Paul, treating me and others like shit, I hated it. I hated his guts. All to often he would say to someone, oh, shit, you’re here? What good are you! Or, If someone for example said, I’m now running jaws 11 on my desktop, he’d come back with something like What the fuck do we care about what version of jaws you’re running? Like I said, I hate people like this, so he naturally angered me. I avoided him at all costs. This has been going on for about a year and a half. Just constant disrespect. The other day, Paul made another one of his usual smart ass comments. I decided I needed to look at him differently. So, I skyped him and asked him in the nicest way possible, why did you say what you said? Something, just clicked. Suddenly, he started opening up. He explained that he was angry. I asked why. He told it all. He was mad at his school system for all the things that they had put him through. I quickly began to understand! This wasn’t the real Paul! I saw something different. This tough guy attitude was the fake Paul. the one who wanted to fit in in any way possible. He began to show the real side of him, telling me about what he believed in and what he wanted to do with his life. So, I told him a few things. Things I wanted him to keep to himself, just to see if he could be trusted. I thought to myself, did I finally brake the door down? Did I find out who the real Paul is? Sure enough I was right. Tonight, I got a call. It was him asking for advice. He wanted to know how to go about defending himself because something happened to him here at school. I gave him a bit of advice about standing up for himself and getting his needs and rights met. All of a sudden, he began telling me all about politics. This was like Greek to me. I had no idea what the hell he was talking about! I saw the real Paul! I told him, be you, don’t be the fake Paul! If you think you know everything, you don’t! I gave him an example of when I helped hire my boss. He had a talking cellphone, that I knew nothing about at the time. I told him Can you imagine me telling my now boss that I knew everything about that cool cellphone and him asking me to do something with it and not being able to? How bad does that make me look? I said, be you. I see the real you! Don’t be that tough guy! I’m glad you came to me for advice. So with that, I’m out of here. As we were talking, I started to think of the live version of the song Pushit by tool. The lead singer says before the song starts, “We’ve been trying something a little different this tour. We’ve been looking at one of our songs from a different angle. Under a different light, so we can hopefully kind of see it almost for the first time. We’d like to try that for you tonight, is that okay? We’re gonna need your help though. We’re gonna need your help and your permission. So we need you to find a comfortable space, that’s not only comfortable, but vulnerable. Just shut your eyes and go there and we’ll meet you on the other side.” So, with that, I was able to do that. Kinda close my eyes, step back and see Paul under a different angle. If you’re ever angry at someone who is disrespecting you, step back. Look at them differently. Think about why they are acting that way. There is a reason! talk to them in a different way to try to figure it out. Once you get to the real them, you won’t regret it. I am glad to say that I have now learned who the real Paul is, and I’m truly inspired by him. Feel free and comment, or whatever. I’m interested in what you have to say.

a lil update!

hey! What’s going on! Not much on this end, except for the fact that we may see apple osx 10.6.2. Let’s pray that the Seika braille display works when we see it. Do you use a mac? then read on. if ya don’t then don’t read then. heh. Have a great rest of your day! and read if you wish!

A pre-release build of the next update to Mac OS X 10.6 was seeded to developers Monday, bringing a long list of changes, fixes and tweaks.

People familiar with the latest build, dubbed 10C514, said the latest update has general focus areas that affect just about every facet of the operating system, from the applications like the Address Book and QuickTime, to services like Spotlight and Time Machine, and basic hardware functions like USB and Bluetooth. The disk image has a 445.4MB file size.

The update reportedly features dozens of areas of change, including fixes for AppleScript, graphics drivers, Xtype, OpenCL and more.

The pre-release build also allegedly comes with a handful of known issues, including hang-ups with the DVD player, crashing of the parental controls preference pane, and a glitch where the system does not recognize an optical drive.

Monday’s release is the first that Mac OS X 10.6.2 has been seen by developers. It will become the second maintenance update for Snow Leopard.
Released just days after the launch of Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6.1 addressed printer issues, updated the Adobe Flash Player plug-in, and resolved issues with the Mail application, among other fixes.

It's been a week, so here goes!

Hey guys,
I’m here. Things are going okay. Over the past week, I thought about going to Atlanta to see a friend on halloween weekend, but it’s just not a very well planned out trip, so it isn’t gonna happen. It sucks, because it would have been a blast. Such is life! Other then that, life is okay. Just get up, and go to school. Every day. I kinda want a change. Ya know? Life gets borrin after a wile. On Friday, we had the overnight firedrill. I out smarted the people though. They did one part of the campus before mine, so I had a friend call me so that I could get dressed and ready for it. I actually almost missed it because I had headphones on and yeah. hahaha. was funny. Other than that, nothing of much round here. I’m out. Just figured I should post something up here cuz I could. gonna post an audio entry in a sec cuz I like the song it’ll have. It’s a bit depressing, but yeah. See ya laters!

and the biggest Asshole award goes to... Cory!

Hey!
So, here’s the story! I was hanging out here in my apartment at about 5. I got hungry and needed to get some hw done. So I called a friend and asked if we could do the work together and then I’d help her with the ipod I gave her. I told her I’d synch it up with all her favorite music and whatever, if she’d help with homework and make me dinner. She said yes, so I quickly packed up my bag and left. Wwe did the homework and then I started working on her Ipod. As this was going on I was talkin to Hope on skype cuz I could. heh. She went to reboot her computer and I waited and waited for Minh’s computer to be done adding music to her itunes library. As this was going on, my laptop gave me a low battery worning. So, like anyone would do, I plugged it in. However, it wouldn’t take a charge. I began freakin out! I ran to another outlet and tryed it. No luck! I really started freaking now. I told her I had to go. She said okay. I left, came back here and backed up all the important stuff I needed before the battery actually died. by this time it was at 8 percent. I was relieved because I had everything backed up and could just use my acer laptop till I got a new charger for the Tisheeba. Being pissed off, I flung open a dror and unplugged the charger. Then I threw it in! At least started to… As I was unplugging it, I felt another charger. I found the end of it, and just started smileing. Turns out in my haste I took a charger to one of my PDA‘s and not the one to my laptop, so of course it aint gonna charge! So, there ya have it. I get the special award today known as the biggest asshole. Don’t ya think?

Your stupid pal,

ohmygod it's been for like ever. I know

Hey all
I’m here. I didn’t die. I sware! Things are going great. Still liking the apartment. I’ve been really busy. Taking Spanish, Bio, and geometry and algebra. So, needless to say, my life is crazy. Last weekend was the You Too consert. It was great. The stage was nuts! I wonder how much money it caust them to build something like that. There had to be like 10 camras on arms catching every moment of the show! We also went to a motorcycle ride in memory of my brother’s friend Jess who was killed in a car accedent. Really too bad, but they raised lots and lots of money. There were over 260 bikes there. Went well. In other news, the slut had 4 more lil kittens yesterday. Will be posting pics in a few mins.

/well, that’s it for now, besides the fact I got a free Itouch for working with Apple on a project that never actually happened. Bye for now. Catch ya on the flip side. Chinese food tonight. Wuhu! lol
