I am going to update my Lionel Legacy control system this afternoon as wel as adding my new Vision Line ethanol tank cars to a consist. A consist is a train with multiple engines. Some folks refer to it as a lashup, but that is incorrect. Should be fun. Wil let you all know how it turned out in a future update. Happy Sunday.
A good friend of ours lost her Seeing Eye Dog this past Tuesday. A sad time for her and her family as wel as her friends. Despite being shattered by her loss she is bound and determined to get a new dog.
For anyone who has lost their dog guides they know what emotions she is going through. We visited with her Wednesday night, but I left Boots at home. He did not have to be subjected to not finding his buddy and his buddies mom crying. Best for all concerned I believe.
On another front a couple of good NFL playoff games are on tap for this weekend. Good luck to the Jets and Ravens.
Darn if it isn’t 2011. My friend and dog guide since September 11, 2001 celebrates his birthday this Friday. Despite the fact that he will soon be 11 you would never know it as his work is still point on and he plays like a pup. I want to publically wish him a most happy birthday. He will get something special too eat and a present or 2 as well. Off to see Walt, my tattoo artist of choice so he can do a little make-over on my eagle tattoo. Not much to be done so I am hoping he will not have to shave all of the hair off of my forearm again . . . darn if it isn’t annoying when the hair begins to grow back.
Hope all of you have recovered from New Year’s Eve and are looking forward to what the new year will bring.
Susan and I wil be spending a quiet night with a couple of friends. We are wel past the age when acting the fool to celebrate the beginning of a new year is worth it. To each his own I know, but that’s the way we feel. Hope all of you have a happy and prosperous new year.
My Giants continued their loosing ways yesterday when they embarrassed themselves against the Packers. I know the players were using the same names as the regulars, but not certain if they were the real guys or clones that were not as talented.. They better win next week and keep their fingers crossed or they will wind up watching the playoffs from their living rooms. Took my new Breeze out today when Boots and I went for our walk. I am impressed. Easy to use and pretty good gps info. A couple of errors, but it recovered quickly and corrected itself. Think I am going to get along with it quite well or at least sure hope so. Will give it another spin tomorrow on my walk and then again tomorrow evening when Susan and I go out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. I am one lucky guy.
The stockings are still hung by the fireplace, but alas I am afraid they will be taken down and stored till it’s time to re-hang them prior to Christmas 2011. Although Susan and I spent the holiday alone it was still a roaring success. We opened gifts, talked to our families and enjoyed a Turkey dinner with all the fixins. Our 3 cats and my dog Boots recieved gifts as well and Boots, now hush, do not let the guide dog schools know, had a little Turkey as well. Susan is off to work tomorrow, but I will be out and about with a knew gift, a Trekker Breeze, so will be having lots of fun. Hope everyone had a grand day and wil likewise have a grand new year!
Less than 2 days now before the fat man in his red suit makes his way around the world doing his thing. A great time for kids of all ages. I look forward to his arrival since I am one of those “big kids”. Nope, decided a long time ago that Christmas is just a plain darn nice time of year and I would not spoil the feelings I always get by becoming an adult about it. Nope, 64 and still enjoy everything Christmas as much as I did when I was 5 years old staring at the tree in our living room and marveling at the packages that miraculously appeared during the night while I slept. So, to all of you who remain kids at heart and to all of you grinches “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”!
Our party was a roaring success. Everyone had fun, lots to eat, exchanged presents and laughed a lot. Susan and I did as little as possible yesterday except we decided to watch the Giants embarrass themselves in the last 7 minutes of the game. Oh well, there is always next week. Susan’s real birthday is today while mine is tomorrow. No celebrations, but more importantly we will be just enjoying one another’s company. The next thing we look forward to is Santa’s arrival. Although the kids and grandchildren will be far, far from home we will still be in the spirit and will have a happy day.
The house is sparkling; windows washed, furniture polished, vacuumed, floors polished and who knows what else. But, yes, we are ready for Saturday night. Susan has been busy making all sorts of goodies; cookies, brownies and even some peanut brittle. Good, good stuff. I have been very good, proud of myself in fact, cause I only sampled a little . . . really, just a tiny bit. Keep your fingers crossed that the party is a success. Be back after the party with the results.
My wife Susan and and I cellebrate our birthdays on consecutive days. Hers is Dec. 20 and mine is the 21st. We always have a combined party and this year it will be held on this coming Saturday night. A few friends, good food, some laughs, the fireplace and Christmas tree and even a present or two.
Things are hectic, but in a fun sort of way. We will spend Christmas by ourselves as the kids are spread from NJ to England. However, through the miracle of Skype and a web cam we wil stil be able to enjoy them all.
SAM Net is great, having a blast, working on my web site, if you want to take a look you can find it under my name; Michael Reed or by typing www.samobile.net/users/dunedin46/ in the web browser of your choice. Have a great weekend, I am planning to.
New to SA and all that goes with it. Hope that in due time I might have something interesting to say. This should be fun and best of all, it should keep me out of trouble . . . at least for a little while.
